Petirah of Mrs. Chava Weisberger A”H

We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Mrs. Chava Weisberger A”H, the Almana of the famed mechanech Rav Zevulun Weisberger Z”L. She was 84.

Mrs. Weisberger Z”L, originally from Boro Park and recently Lakewood, was a renowned Baalas Chesed. She was an innovator of projects who worked hands-on to send containers of clothing and shoes to the poor of Eretz Yisroel and helped impoverished Kallahs and their families.

For many years, Mrs. Weisberger Z”L served as nurse/camp mother in Camp Na’arim, and later in Camp Ohr Shraga where she and her family forged close ties with Gedolei Yisroel such as Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky Zatzal, Rav Zelik Epstein Zatzal, and Rav Nesanel Quinn Zatzal.

She leaves behind a family of outstanding Bnai Torah, including her sons Rav Dovid of Monsey, Rav Yisroel of Lakewood, Rav Avi of South Fallsburg and daughters Mrs. Shanny Trenk of Boro Park and Mrs. Esther Moskowitz of Lakewood. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren continuing along the golden path of their grandparents who so many decades ago blazed a trail of Torah and Mitzvos.

The Levaya will take place via Zoom at 10:30 AM.

  1. As someone who went to Camp Ohr Shraga for a number of years, this is especially painful. First Rav Label Katz, and now Mrs. Weisberger.

She was a very special person. Aside from her maalos listed in the above article, she was a great shadchan. I recall on more than one occasion when a camper walked into the office, and after hearing who he was, she exclaimed “hey, I was your parent’s shadchan!”

She also very devotedly ran the library single-handedly in camp, making sure to buy new titles every summer so that boys would have the newest books to read.

Hope i didn’t make any grammatical errors while writing this – it would’ve elicited a correction from her.

  2. I had the honor of spending the last 6 months with her and from what I’ve learned she is the kindest sweetest nicest women. She was friendly and kind to everyone she will be missed greatly. And she was lucky to spend time with her amazing family they took such amazing care of her.

  3. As an attendee of Camp Ohr Shraga many years ago I’ll never forget her warmth and her smile. I’ll forever be grateful to her for choosing me once to bring something to Rav Zelik Epstein Ztzl it was a moment of a lifetime thanks to her. I also gained tremendously from her husband during those summers. May their memories be a blessing to all!
