[COMMUNICATED] You may or may not have heard of them but the likelihood is that you or someone you know has directly felt their impact.
Among the many new challenges presented by the current pandemic was the inability of those on the front lines, be they medical professionals, Bikur Cholim volunteers, or those ensuring Kavod Hames, to reach those in need of their services without exposing themselves to the dreaded illness. Although generally Personal Protective Equipment or PPE is readily available through normal channels, with the sudden high demand this necessary equipment quickly became prohibitively expensive and in some cases nearly unobtainable at all.
In light of this unique challenge, with the backing of Rav Uren Reich, several young individuals with experience in sourcing medical supplies banded together and in a matter of hours founded an organization they aptly named Supplies4Lives. They did so with one goal in mind: to provide desperately needed PPE to those facing off this illness so long as they could not obtain it themselves. To date, they have provided over thirty organizations as well as countless individuals with much needed PPE.
Fortunately, in recent days, our medical professionals and Chesed organizations have, for the most part, regained their bearings in this regard, allowing Supplies4Lives to scale back operations and more or less enter standby mode should the need chalilah arise.
However, this young organization that has not taken a dollar for the supplies they’ve provided thus far is now saddled with thousands of dollars in outstanding debt to suppliers incurred during the pre-Yom Tov rush to get this necessary equipment to those in need. These young heroes have stepped forward and volunteered their time and resources to assist in protecting each and every one of us from the ravages of this terrible disease. If we each step forward and contribute just a few dollars, we could all have a part in this lifesaving work.
