Updated Weekend Meal Box information

The weekend meal boxes prepared by Sodexo and Gelbstein’s will be available on Friday morning.

In addition to the standard bus stop deliveries, the seven public school locations will provide Sodexo packages, while these four public schools will provide the Kosher boxes: Spruce Street School, Piners High School, Lakewood Middle School, and Clifton Avenue Grade School.

Sodexo meal pickups are between 7-11 a.m., and Gelbstien’s location pickups are between 9-11 a.m. There will be 1,000 boxes prepared for each Gelbstein’s location.

While you can go to any location to pick up a box, only do so if you are not picking up from your child’s school.

The boxes will be distributed based on the number of children you have.

Friday weekend boxes:

The Friday deliverer will have food for 3 days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Friday boxes will be prepared by Sodexo and Kosher boxes prepared by Gelbstein’s.

It is the “Plan“ at this time that the Friday boxes will continue through the end of the school year (June).

Memorial Day, Monday, May 25:

Due to the Federal and State Holiday, there will be NO bus service NOR any meals prepared by Sodexo.

However, the Board members have decided based on expressed need by all sectors of Lakewood to provide meals to ALL students on Memorial day from the following 4 locations: Spruce, Piners, Middle School, and Clifton from 8:30- 11 a.m. (not usual 7 -11 a.m. for Sodexo, nor 9-11 a.m. for Gelbstein’s).

All meals will be prepared by Gelbstein’s for ALL students, as Sodexo staff per contract will not be working on Monday.

Additional Police assistance will be available and at the four locations to hep the flow of traffic (as there will be no busing).

  1. waste of taxpayer money makes no sense sure we pay a fortune for this lunches and meals people have to stand on line for hours, just give the people the CASH everybody knows how to feed their family STOP this stupid system

  2. As a mother of young children at home I am thrilled with the lunches. With everyone out of school and trying to work it is so hard to make lunch. On the days that I can we go pick up lunch, it gives everyone a change of scenery, we eat our snack in the car and the lunches later. It’s terrible how people keep complaining. It’s so beautiful that people are working so hard to help us all. You wouldn’t get as much for your money if they gave you the money it costs them to make.

  3. I agree that this is a tremendous help! If you don’t appreciate it, don’t waste your time and negative words. Our family has also found these provided meals and snacks to be a TREMENDOUS help, THANK U! If they would additionally offer dinner, as some areas are doing (for example, Baltimore, Maryland), we would be thrilled!! Thank u!
