It was a special moment at Gelbstein’s Bakery this morning, as Slovik, the longtime delivery manager put on Tefillin for the first time.
Nikki, of Sushi Express, donated the Teffilin, and had the honor of wrapping around Slovik’s arm for the first time, as friends stood by and watched in awe.
“If Rebbi Akiva can change at 40, I will do it at 57,” Slovik (Yisroel), the Azerbaijan native said.
The ceremony was followed by a Kiddush in his honor.
57 is young! Good luck on your continued life journey.
Tremendous zechus! Great job by all
Artscroll siddur is Sefard but the shel rosh has an ashkenaz kesher and both people in the picture have a yiddishe hartz
Mazel Tov to Reb Slovik and all of your Klal Yisroel family. May Hashem Yitbarach continue to bestow on you shefa gedola, happiness, and good health for 120 gebentched years!
I know Slovik.
He is a real Mentsch.
Slavic, Mazal tov!
BTW
The kesher has nothing to do if you daven Sfard or Ashkenaz.
Actually true minhag ashkenaz, which most Yekkes still keep, is the other kesher. This kesher was the mesora in Lita and Russia. I once heard that Reb Chaim Brisker was very not in agreement with using the other kosher, although it was the mesora.
In times of mashiach there won’t be anyone in the middle, either on the right or the left (yidishkit term). I’m so happy he joined the right…big zechus on those involved and iyh gan Eden for slovik. Much hatzlacha!!!!
Wow! Amazing! I’ve known Slovak for years from the good old Just 4 Wheels days. Mazal Tov!
