One victim was left unconscious in the middle of 2nd Street near Clifton Avenue late last night after reportedly being attacked by several men, one of whom apparently hit the victim with a hammer.
Disturbing video provided to TLS by a bystander shows the man being viciously beaten in the street and left unconscious, only for one of the fleeing attackers to turn around and kick the unconscious victim again.
The victim was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus with multiple injuries.
Police were on the scene for hours, investigating the details surrounding the incident, assisted by a helicopter that circled overhead and illuminated the area with its spotlight.
Police took at least one alleged perpetrator of the attack into custody several blocks away from where the incident occurred.
An investigation is ongoing.
