BREAKING: Zero New Coronavirus Deaths In New Jersey, First Time Since March

At his daily press conference today, Governor Phil Murphy announced that there have been zero new Covid-19 related deaths in the state in the past 24 hours.

The last time there were no coronavirus deaths in New Jersey was on March 10th.

Governor Murphy added that he was putting New Jersey “on notice” as cases of coronavirus in the state begin rising again, raising concerns of a second outbreak that would prompt him to impose more restrictions on businesses and residents. The state’s rate of transmission has increased to 1.35, and the spot positivity rate went up to 2.15%, metrics which the governor said are “sending off alarms.”

“We all want to get back to things the way they were, but right now that’s just not possible,” Murphy said. “Keep social distancing. Keep wearing a mask. Use your common sense.”

New Jersey has been one of the hardest-hit states in the nation with regard to Covid-19, having over 180,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, and having suffered 13,934 deaths.

The New Jersey Department of Health on Friday reported an additional 699 new positive cases in the state. A little over 700 people are hospitalized with symptoms of the virus, and about 50 ventilators are in use.

  1. Why arent they counting the covid deaths in NJ prisons? They are the highest in the nation and there is no sign of them stopping.

  2. Why is our supreme leader Murphy NOT letting everything open?
NY NJ has hardly any cases why is this a pandemic? As of now it is in the rear view mirror.
Why Is Lakewood town hall closed? Why are the planning and zoning board meetings not in public?
    Can someone please explain this?

  3. @2-4 You guys didn’t read the article. It says that the rate of transmission has risen. If the virus is spreading more, the likelihood of new deaths increases.

    • Don’t worry Shmuel. Most of the silent readers who are not blinded by their hate for the Governor, understand that a transmission rate that jumps from 1.14 to 1.35 in 3 days means NJ in a dangerous place. No, this is not fictitious science, but are hard facts that some prefer to ignore.

No one can explain why the second wave is taking much longer to make a come back in some places, but unfortunately it seems that no one is spared, including Hong-Kong and Antwerp which was the hardest hit in the world during the first wave (85 deaths per 100,000 residents).

To blissfully ignore the warning signs and to just blame it on an anarchist democrat, simply means we didn’t learn our lesson from the first waive. Smart people know better.

  4. over 2500 new cases in the last 5 days.
no deaths bh but there is a new drastic rise in cases. iyh in 2 weeks we will still see this statistic but thats unlikely. people lets start being careful again!

  5. There will always be more positive cases now that they are testing more and more people. The death rate however, notice is missing from almost every article…

Young kids and teens that all got tested to go to camp will add to the positive cases but BH none will even have symptom

  6. I saw a chart today that says cases are increasing again. Large gatherings and parties will do that. Please wear your mask and social distance.
