Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney, & Speaker Coughlin Announce Support of Legislation to Change Outdated Term of ‘Freeholder’ to ‘Commissioner’

“As our nation tears down symbols of injustice, we must also tear down words we use in New Jersey that were born from racism.

It’s past time for New Jersey to phase out the term ‘freeholder’ from our public discourse –  a term coined when only white male landowners could hold public office.

This is not a matter of political correctness; it is a corrective action to replace an outdated designation that is rooted in institutional prejudice.”

  1. What a waste of time and taxpayer money, just like Murphy wasting taxpayer money on a lawsuit against the little sisters of the poor. Democrats are anti religious freedom.

  2. Come on, they have loads of money to spend on this frivolous stuff. Money means nothing to them. I’ll tell you the real reason they want to change the name from Freeholder to Commissioner. They are getting tired of people using the term FREELOADER to describe them and their function in the government.

  3. The purpose is government is to provide for the saftey of its citizens and the protection of civil rights. Not to indoctrinate, reeducate or push any specific point of view.
Hey Govornor Knucklehead, lets just focus on a functional DMV and leave the PC propaganda to the left wing media and others who dont have real jobs!

  4. they are doing a major road project on prospect and Massachusetts , yet Williams and James that has been a nightmare for years, is left alone. I wish people that live in the hood, can have some input
