Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Parking on Massachusetts Avenue

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question: Good afternoon,

Is there any way to get this parking restriction (on Massachusetts Avenue) enforced? It makes a big difference to the traffic as the shoulder is used for driver to turn right, which makes the mess a bit less messy.

Thank you.

Response from Mayor Coles: Good morning,

The chief assures me they will step up enforcement here and continue to monitor it moving forward.

Thanks

  1. It’s not illegal to drive on that shoulder. The no parking signs are there specifically to allow cars to get around the backed up traffic trying to make a left. I have spoken to the local police several times asking them to stop the illegal parking & nothing was done. I thank the mayor for getting involved. It will take persistence to change the habits of those who are used to parking illegally.

  2. Sorry dude, it’s certainly a convenience but let’s face it, it’s still illegal. If u knock off the car mirror as u pass be at fault and end up with a hefty fine.
