Message from Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer

Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer released the following message to TLS today.

If you are leaving for Shabbos and Summer break, be sure to:

1) Leave lights on in your home – preferably on a timer.

2) Check that your windows and doors – including your car doors – are locked.

3) Leave a contact number with a neighbor in case of an emergency.

4) Leave a car parked in your driveway.

5) If traveling for an extended period of time, it’s recommended to place your mail on hold so it doesn’t accumulate. It’s also suggested to have a neighbor bring in flyers and magazines left on your driveway or doorstep.

If you’re staying home for Shabbos, keep an extra eye out in your neighborhood for any suspicious activity, and report it immediately to any patrolling officer.

Wishing you an enjoyable Shabbos.

Chief Greg Meyer.
