Ocean County incumbents won landslide victories in today’s primary matchups across New Jersey and Ocean County, as challengers’ campaigns failed to resonate with voters.
Tuesday’s primaries were a little different from years past, with many voters opting to cast their ballots via mail, and with fewer available polling places in many districts. Still, thousands of voters went to the polls today, and turnout for a primary was reportedly slightly higher than usual in Lakewood itself.
UPDATE 9:00 PM: Senator Cory Booker, Rep. Andy Kim (3rd District), and Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles have all easily won their Democratic primaries and will be nominated to serve in their positions again.
UPDATE 8:52 PM: Stephanie Schmid is the projected winner of the Democratic primary to represent New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. She will face incumbent Rep. Chris Smith in November.
UPDATE 8:48 PM: Rep. Chris Smith has won the Republican primary to represent New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District in the House of Representatives, beating out challenger Alter Eliezer Richter.
UPDATE 8:42 PM: Lakewood Committeeman Mike D’Elia is the projected winner in the Republican primary against challenger Harold Hershkowitz.
UPDATE 8:35 PM: President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden have won their primaries in New Jersey.
Wow! How foolish our people are to keep voting in the same people!
Thank you for nominating me again. I will be just as useless this time as I have in the past.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over & expecting a different result
