A young child was struck and pinned underneath a car a short time ago in the Twin Oaks section of Lakewood.
Preliminary reports suggest the child was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by the vehicle.
A Hatzolah extrication team removed the child from under the vehicle and treated him on scene prior to transporting him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in stable condition.

Those electronic bikes/scooters are very dangerous both to the rider and to pedestrians as well. They should be banned from public property,
That looks more like a toy motorized bike than a scooter.
It’s razor mx350 dirt rocket. Not a toy but not really a scooter either
To banner. It’s not the scooter that’s the problem. But the operator. Cars and motorcycles are no different. It’s always the operator. Have a blessed day and 5781, too.
You are correct and being that the riders are children, we as parents need to take on some serious thinking.
I’m curious which parent with The right mind would allow children to ride this toy. And especially crossing the street. Sitting on position. I watched numerous times kids riding this. It’s beyond dangerous.
This parent would and in fact do allow my children to ride it. The toy pictured does not go fast and is not dangerous at all. It’s less dangerous than a standard bike. In fact, I even customized it to go faster as off the shelf it’s pretty slow. This comes with 12v batteries which doesn’t generate much power. You obviously are not familiar with it and having said that you should not be judging who is sane or not and regardless you certainly shouldn’t be judging parents while their child is in the hospital.
Do I allow my children to ride in the street? Of course not, the same as I don’t let them ride regular bikes in the street. The boy getting hurt here had nothing to do with the toy motor bike.
Well, that is patently untrue. There are several children in my neighborhood who ride this motorized bike around. They zip around corners, off curbs and into the street with no regard at all to oncoming traffic. The bike is pretty low down and is difficult to see when they shoot between parked cars and into the pathway of vehicles driving on the road.I can not tell you how many times I have had near misses with these completely irresponsible children. As dangerous as Segways and Hoverboards are- at least the rider is standing and can be seen approaching most of the time. These children go so fast that their bike tilts sideways, much like a motorcycle when it accelerates at a rapid speed.. Please do not say that these bikes are not a menace on the road. They are an accident waiting to happen, putting the children who ride them and the drivers on the road at risk.
Everyone calm down it was an accident their is no one to blame
