Governor Murphy Extends New Jersey’s Public Health Emergency

Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 171 extending the Public Health Emergency that was declared on March 9, and which was previously extended on April 7, May 6, June 4, and July 2.

Under the Emergency Health Powers Act, a declared public health emergency expires after 30 days unless renewed.

“New Jersey has made a lot of progress in the fight against COVID-19, but we cannot declare victory yet,” said Governor Murphy. “As we continue to work to save lives and stop a resurgence of this virus, we need access to all resources available to do so.”

The Executive Order extends all Executive Orders issued under the Governor’s authority under the Emergency Health Powers Act. It also extends all actions taken by any Executive Branch departments and agencies in response to the Public Health Emergency presented by the COVID-19 outbreak.

  1. On the day that there is not a single Covid death he signs a declaration of emergency?!
Let’s make a movement against this governor – to gain our freedom back.

  2. Will be very interesting how suddenly victory will be declared on November 3rd 2020 and public health emergency will disappear on that day too ????

  3. Sadly, the power went to his head and he can’t relinquish it. This is all about control.
Time for us to move to Tampa, FL. They’re starting a huge Yishuv there.

  4. Hidden agendas, controlling people thru fear, and destroying the states economy, then He will blame the president for his nonsense decisions.

  5. The number of Covid incidents are low because he has kept us safe. Finally somebody cares about the people not just the money.

  6. The medical emergency is over, and has been over. It has now become totally political, it is, do anything to make Trump look bad. This COVID-19 emergency will be here until Joe Biden is elected President.
The only way to get sanity back is vote Republican, keep the President, keep the Senate and take back the House.

And now we have a Hurricane coming up the coast. Watch how he blows this out of proportion to keep his power and blame Trump for the storm.

  7. It’s annoying and inconvenient and financially scary. But I would rather the governor be safe than sorry for all our sakes ????????????????????????

  8. THANK YOU GOVERNOR FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP, COMPASSION AND FOR ALLOWING DATA TO MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS FOR OUR HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF YOUR STATE. Those who disagree need only speak to people who have lost their loved ones to this PANDEMIC. Keep it up!!!

  9. Governor Murphy is doing a fine job and has set an example regarding leadership. I just wish that. we citizens would follow his direction so that we can see a decrease in Covid 19 cases

. Choose life over the beach, the bar, parties, and other gatherings. Wear your mask! Wash your hands. It’s simple. Thank you Governor. You can only try to lead us. We have to do our part.

  10. Wirh barely any covid cases in our hospitals and the ones that have them are way less severe then before he extends it again ? Come on people …wake up..there is way more to this!

  11. I’m glad we have a rational governor who follows science to make decisions. If the rate of infection was at zero and had been for several months then I would question his decision. During the time of the Spanish flu there were plenty of ppl who didn’t understand the science, didn’t wear masks etc. You would think we would be smarter!!

  12. I wouldn’t want to be governor during this situation.
The partying lifeguards whom tested positive: were all from out of state, they will have no symptoms, and will soon be done with it and develop antibodies. The people at risk are diabetics or cancer patients etc whom hid themselves till now or come from other states.
Governor Murphy can save 100 times more lives if he eliminates all fast food restaurants, & stops the sale of all Sugar Drinks, Cake & Candies.

  13. That’s not good for us landlords with bad tenants. They have destroyed my apartment with holes in the walls, they shifted the toilet, they smoke in the apartment, make a lot of noise, a lot of profanity, garbage everywhere.. when you tell them they have broken everything on the lease and where is the rent money, they start to curse. It’s been going on for months, 2 people in the unit get the additional $600 dollar weekly stimulus unemployment money..I have a court order signed by a judge they had to vacate the apartment by the end of April of 2020.
Governor Murphy I have 3 kids from the ages of 4yrs to 16yrs old who are scared. The police have been here numerous times, I rented the unit to a mother and daughter, now there is 8 people living in 2 bedroom apartment. They’re abusing the system due to all you doing Governor Murphy. We need to open the court system.
You will not get my vote and plenty others !!

  14. I’m curious you’re saying he’s an idiot how many people have to die before it becomes on political give it a break who are the morons

  15. The governor is looking at new cases when making his decision which makes sense.
What is so nonsensical about it is his failure to divide the state by county or area of infection thus supidly laying heavy hands on areas that are clean as well as those that need discipline .

  16. I’ve seen “allow them data to make the best decisions …..”. This is where the old saying, “Figures don’t lie, liars figure!” No one has said, including Governor Murphy, what will be enough to open the state up. Please Governor Murphy, set the criteria for reopening the economy.
I heard the NJEA doesn’t want to go back to school until there are no new cases of COVID-19. I’m guessing that’s never. Even with a vaccine where everyone is vaccinated it will not be zero. The effectiveness of flu vaccines are only 40-60% effective. Do that math. People will continue to get sick, then the vast majority will get better. Some, who have other conditions may die, but to shut a state down to protect these people will backfire when our economy will not be able to serve the less fortunate. Then let the dying begin.
Has social distancing worked for the homeless? I’m sure we’d hear if they were dying at rates greater than before.
Put people in jail and fine them for living their lives but allow protesters to gather, peaceful or otherwise.
Get a grip people, Governor Murphy said at the beginning of all this, the reason for the lockdown/quarantine was to flatten the curve. He answered a question at one of his first press conferences, if the area under the flattened curve was the same as the expected curve. He answered yes, we need to keep the hospitals from getting overcrowded. It wasn’t to keep people from eventually getting sick. According to him the same number of people were going to get sick (area/people under both curves are the same). Liars figuring.
Bottom line, he can’t keep people from getting sick eventually. People, take responsibility for your own health, don’t restrict everyone’s freedom for the few (less than 5%) otherwise we as a society will not be able to continue. Wait, that’s what most of these protests (the violent ones) are all about!!!!!!

  17. People are taking advantage of the system. This nonsense must stop. There are tenants not bothering to pay their rent, which means they’re living in someone else’s property Scott free. And then there are loads of people who managed to become “unemployed” all of the sudden because of the $600. On top of that the government is feed everyone lots of food. Don’t we see where this is going? They’re using this crisis to make our country into a socialist society. The whole premise for the executive order was that the health care system not become overwhelmed. That is clearly not an issue right now.

  18. Just curious what tune you would sing if someone you loved died of Covid-19?

    Hey, it’s only 5%.

Yes, people die from a lot of things but most are not from other people’s negligence.

If a drunk driver killed someone you knew would you say
    “It happens”?

If someone shot & killed someone you loved would you still be pro guns?

    • Glad you mentioned as a comparison because 1.25 million died in the US from car accidents last year. So using the public shaming and manipulative guilt you should never drive a car again and also due to the added global warming. Doesn’t human life mean anything to you? Do you get it?

  19. Hey Guys!
NJ is home to all the pharmaceutical companies (think vaccines!). He will keep this going until the big Pharma can make their money. It’s as simple as pie……

  20. Power went to his head, until election day. time to move to Jacksonville, Florida, beautiful homes, great yeshivas, warm community

  21. CASES are not Deaths and don’t become Deaths. CASE numbers will become 340 million when all Americans are tested. CASES are all Positive and Negative and 15 people near a positive.

CASES are just a Fake Number game played until the Election. It is corrupt and now 40 million Americans out of work, Suicides up 600% , Child and Family Abuse doubled, depression, thousands dead from not getting other medical care. Also, these same politicians claim they do it because they care about people but at the same time approved of the abortion murder of 800 thousand babies and now full term abortion. Its all lies and propaganda based on an election.
