Lakewood Firefighters respond to over 100 storm-related calls

Fire Commissioner Larry Loigman expressed his appreciation to more than 50 Lakewood volunteer and career firefighters who spent the day responding to over a hundred storm-related calls today. 

Under the direction of Chief Mike D’Elia, Jr., crews handled calls involving power lines down, trees that crashed into houses, fire alarms sounding, and similar emergencies throughout the tropical storm. B’chasdei Hashem, no injuries were reported.

Loigman reminded residents to keep away from downed wires, which may still be electrically charged. If a wire is arcing or sparking, the fire department should be called immediately to prevent the danger of serious injury.
