Governor Phil Murphy said on Wednesday that New Jersey’s current self-response rate for the 2020 Census is the highest the state has seen in the past four Censuses.
The current self-response response rate for New Jersey is 68.1% and the statewide response rate is 92%.
The US Constitution calls for a national census to be taken every 10 years, and the finding of the Census are used to allocate Congressional districts. It also helps the federal government decide how to allocate billions in federal aid to states, and it is therefore vital that every household complete and send in the Census. It takes no more than a few minutes.
