We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Reb Eliyohu (Eli) Beane Z”L.
Born in Brooklyn, Reb Eliyohu attended Yeshiva Torah Vodaas. After his marriage in 1966, he took a job in New Jersey and wanting to live in Mokom Torah, he chose Lakewood and bought a house on 6th St, just doors away from the Yeshiva.
Over the next 50+ years, he was a pillar of Hasmoda and Dikduk Hamitzvos and was known to many for his boundless Yedias Hatorah and Halocha.
He was also the author of the book Fire of Torah about Reb Aharon Kotler Zatzal. He was 80 yrs old.
Reb Eliyohu Z”L is survived by his wife, who was his partner in his amazing Avodas Hashem and was especially Moser Nefesh for the past 5 years as Reb Eliyohu suffered many Yisurim.
His sons are R’ Yossie and R’ Uri, and sons-in-law R’ Yitzchok Florans and R’ Yitzchok Friedman.
The Levaya is tentatively scheduled for 9:00 AM Tuesday morning at the 7th Street Chapel, with Kevura in Eretz Yisroel.

What a loss! He was such a role model! I remember growing up watching him learn shabbos afternoon in bmg, no matter what time I came , he was there! Right in the middle of the Bais Medrash!

I’ve known Rabbi Beane fro almost 25 years as a friend, co-worker and counselor To me, he was a person to be deeply respected and almost venerated ( a term he would not like). He remarked to me that he only wanted to be remembered as an observant Jew.
Many, many times I happened upon Eli studying or praying. One time that is fixed in my mine occurred on a business trip to San Diego, Ca.
We were to present a software program at a Naval Expo. We arrived in San Diego, and I was very tired as was Eli. A four hour jet lag contributed to the weariness of the trip. Eli had suffered from a variety of health issues which made me concerned about his well-being.
Eli asked me to drive to a shul at 6 AM the next morning which didn’t help my health. I felt at the moment, it would only be a miracle if he was awaken at such an hour. The next morning, I dragged myself out of the sack and hurriedly went over to his room on the first floor. I peeked into the sliding doors and fully expected to see him asleep. To my utter surprise, I could see him fully dressed and studying a sefer at a desk. What devotion to Judaism is the only thoughts I had then and now.
His influence on me is very profound. I’ve learned that wisdom and high morals are really the only way mankind survives. Without them, savagery and cannibalism set in. A book on Rabbi Shach which I studied and informed Eli on, stated and I quote: “…the greatest country in the 20th century in terms of literature, humanities, law and philosophy
was Germany and look what they did…” What a wake-up call to me who foolishly believed that education is the answer. An “educated” person is nothing without a strong belief in G_d and the mitzvahs as enunciated in his T_rah. Germany is the classic example in the 20th century of “modern education”
I was recently thanked by Eli’s family for the role of a driver. I drove Eli a number of times to the Presbyterian Hospital in New York for various doctors’s appointments. It is I who should thank Eli and his family for allowing me to drive Eli. I learned much just conversing with Eli as a driver.
It is with great sorrow, I learned of his passing. I know I shall never meet such a devoted student of HaShem and his T_rah. The world lost a true servant and a very holy man.
I shall try with the remaining time I have on this earth to forbear offenses, to have more Chessed and to always remember that Rabbi Eli F. Beane was truly righteous holy person.
