Though the sun did shine
And we wished we could play
We sat in the house
That entire long long day
To scary to go out
It’s not safe to play ball
We sat in the house
And did nothing at all
All we could do was
Sit
Sit
Sit
Sit
And we did not like it
Not one little bit
No we weren’t punished
And our parents aren’t that mean
We were stuck in our house
Because we were under quarantine
The virus! That virus!
It shook up the town
And down became up
And up became down
This was NOT fun and games
This was NOT time to joke
The people were hurting
Their spirits were broke
Now life seems more calm
But we cannot forget
The people are still hurting
And all is not set
Their storefronts were locked
Their livelihoods blocked
Their systems are shocked
Tranquility rocked
With Yom Tov so near
They start to despair
They fear –
“Oh dear!
Will we make it this year?”
They aren’t to blame
And they all feel the same –
“Oh dear. What a shame! What a shame! What a shame!”
Now it’s our turn to give
We can give where we live
We can give over here
We can give everywhere
The need is so big and so deep and so tall
We can’t do it ourselves
There is no way at all!
So right on your block
Your block rep will knock
Please run and unlock
‘Cause we’re racing the clock!
We can NOT look away
We do NOT turn them down
But we cannot help them
Without help from the town
It is fun
To have fun
But we cannot be done
Until Yom Tov is fun
For everyone
…And that is the reason we’re rhyming this season!
They turn to us
And we turn to you…
What would you do
If this person was you?
Hundreds of families need our help this Yom Tov season,
So together with Ahavas Tzedakah let’s all Rhyme for a Reason.
