Food Box Distribution Today; Nearly 2.5 Million Free Meals Already Served

The Lakewood Board of Education will be distributing free boxes of food for students ages 0-18. Students who receive free lunch at school are not eligible for the weekday boxes (students whose parents pay for school lunches are eligible). All students are eligible for the weekend boxes.

As usual, the distribution will take place at the Clifton Avenue Grade School and the Lakewood Middle School from 3:30 to 6 PM. One notable exception: those arriving by foot will only begin receiving boxes at 4 PM. Those arriving in cars will begin at 3:30.

The BOE says that it has distributed 2,463,484 free meals over the course of the pandemic, and 579,984 free meals since the food box distribution resumed in September.

  1. Thank you for this information. I got the recorded call from Michael Inzelbuch, however he did not say anything about weekend boxes. From the call it was not clear that children who get food in school would be eligible. Thank you.
