New Jersey’s Unemployment Rate Drops 4.4%

New Jersey’s unemployment rate fell by 4.4% in September as the state slowly recovers from the financial crisis precipitated by the coronavirus pandemic and ensuing shutdowns. 

60,200 jobs were added in New Jersey in September, for a total of 467,000 jobs since April, or 56% of the jobs that were lost since March, according to figures released by state officials.

New Jersey’s unemployment rate now stands at 6.7%, below the national average of 7.9%.
