Two people were hospitalized, one with serious injuries, after an early-morning fire in Lakewood.

The fire broke out shortly before 2:00 a.m. at 100 Wohr Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters located the fire on the second floor, and quickly brought it under control.

A woman trapped inside the apartment where the fire originated was rescued by the Lakewood Fire Department. She suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to 85% of her body, and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, officials told TLS.

A first responder was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and released, Fire Chief Mike D’Elia said.
