Multiple girls from a Lakewood high school were injured in an accident in Lakewood this evening.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Cedarbridge Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue shortly after 7 PM.
The patients were transported with Hatzolah medics to Jersey Shore University Center, some with serious injuries.
As of approximately 11:00 PM, the girls were reportedly all in stable condition.
Time to put red turning arrows at that intersection so these daily accidents stop!!!

To reitterate: A red turning arrow. Like we have by madison and County Kennedy. When the light turns red on Kennedy the ppl turning from Madison onto Kennedy have a turning arrow. After 15 seconds it becomes red and the straight lanes go. Now when Madison turns yellow/red the turning lanes already are long stopped saving UNTOLD AGMAS NEFESH

Both drivers are at fault here for trying to beat the yellow light.
You are allowed to pull into the intersection on a yellow and make the left turn on the red light.
The person making the left should have waited for the oncoming traffic to stop then made the left.
The driver going straight should not have gone through the red light.
check again. The light turns red just as he hits the other car. He entered the intersection legally when it was still yellow.

Does anybody in this town know what your suppose to do when the traffic light turns red? Grid locking the intersection is another favorite when we have a red light. Police need to enforce traffic laws in the town!

I am going to show this video to my HS daughter who is taking drivers Ed as a “what did this driver do wrong” lesson. The answer is that as a teenage driver, she turned because the car in front of her turned. An easy mistake for a teen to make, like crossing the street without checking because the person in front of you did. One of the most important lessons to learn as a teen thriving a car is that you need to check all directions for yourself and not rely on the drivers around you. I hope they all have a speedy Refuah sheleima and are able to drive again quickly.
This is the 2nd accident in under 2 weeks involving teenagers (that I know of-and I don’t know who was driving in this case) but regardless of fault – all drivers need reminders and especially those who just got their licenses – not only as to the traffic laws but defensive driving as well. A refuah sheleimah to all involved.
Hello. Yellow does not mean slow down. Yellow means STOP, unless it is dangerous or impossible to do so (slam on the brakes).
To one commenter on here – yellow does not mean stop. It means slow down and proceed with caution. Red is stop. Green is go. If you dont “use the colors” correctly, traffic will not flow, there will be accidents
and probably road rage!

That commenter is correct for NJ. Here’s what the statute says, “Amber, or yellow, when shown alone following green means traffic to stop before entering the intersection or nearest crosswalk, unless when the amber appears the vehicle or street car is so close to the intersection that with suitable brakes it cannot be stopped in safety. A distance of fifty feet from the intersection is considered a safe stopping distance for a speed of twenty miles per hour, and vehicles and street cars if within that distance when the amber appears alone, and which cannot be stopped with safety, may proceed across the intersection or make a right or left turn unless the turning movement is specifically limited.”
NJ Rev Stat § 39:4-105 (2013)
Person going straight did nothing wrong, Turning left, you need to make sure there’s nobody coming straight.

The problem here is not about how people are driving. Chai urgent care needs to expand and open an emergency room at this intersection.

Nobody should be crossing that street especially teenagers..where’s the parents to take them where they need to go..too much pressure on these kids.
