Space fans will have an opportunity this evening to watch the International Space Station as it hurtles through space above the Lakewood sky at 17,000 miles per hours.
According to NASA, the space station will be visible from Lakewood for about 5 minutes.
International Space Station sightings are not that rare, and unsurpringly. With the Station revolving around Earth every 90 minutes, a lot of sightings should be expected.
What is different about this evening’s sighting is that it is expected to be particularly bright, far brighter than any visible star or planet.
To see it, take a look at Lakewood’s northwest sky at 5:46 PM. The ISS will appear as a bright ball moving rapidly at a very high altitude.
Very cool to watch. Despite all the lights that were on, I was able to watch it with the family. They all thank the LS!
Surrounded by 2 dragons!!
Ma rabu!
There is a app called skyview where you can see the sky as a map and spot stars, planets and the ISS. The ISS is visible from Lakewood multiple times a month.
