JUST IN: Jackson School District announces 2-week in-person shutdown due to positive Covid cases [UPDATED]

The entire Jackson School District will be placed on full remote status due to positive Covid cases, the District announced.

The District released the following statement:

“Effective immediately the Jackson School District will be placed on FULL REMOTE LEARNING status through Dec. 16. This move is necessary because the newest positive cases and mandated quarantines reported today has brought us to the point where we cannot properly operate our buildings and departments.

We are incredibly disappointed to have to make this decision. The health and safety of our students and staff is and has always been our first priority. We are acutely aware of the hardship this presents to our families and we hope you can appreciate that we would not have made this change if it weren’t absolutely necessary.

At this time, based on quarantine timelines that dictate when various staff members can return, we expect to be able to resume our Hybrid in-person schedule on Dec. 17. We will provide updates if anything impacts this timeline.”

UPDATE: Busing to Lakewood will continue.
