Murphy Discusses New Jersey Issues With Joe Biden

Governor Murphy says that he spoke recently to President-elect Joe Biden about several issues facing New Jersey, and on which the two plan to work together once Biden inevitably enters the White House.

Murphy said that he and Biden discussed a range of issues, including the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in New Jersey, the need for more federal stimulus funds to help the state and its businesses weather the economic storm precipitated by the virus, and making progress on infrastructure projects, specifically the Gateway Tunnel project, which has been stalled since being shut down by former Governor Christie due to its costs which ballooned beyond projections.

The governor also praised Biden’s decision to keep Dr. Anthony Fauci at the helm of the National Institutes of Health and tapping him to be his chief medical advisor. “The news that he has asked Anthony Fauci to stay on was a double shot of good news,” Murphy said.

On stimulus talks with the former vice president, Murphy stressed that more needs to be done. “More is needed,” said Murphy. “History [will] not dismiss us for going big and bold.”

  1. Maybe he should be calling President Trump. Open up the businesses and let the economy, especially small business to get back to making a living. Funny how State workers are still on the payroll while everyone else is on unemployment, that they cannot seem to get.

  2. The new vaccines that will soon be distributed will be given in 2 separate doses. So I’m assuming when Governor Murphy described Biden’s decision to keep Dr. Fauci in his current post and also tapping him to be his medical adviser as being a “double shot of good news” it was a pun intended? Or perhaps an unintended pun. What difference does it make, you ask? That’s even a better question.
