The NJ State Police this morning released additional information into last night’s double fatal accident.
The crash occurred last evening at 8:23 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton.
Preliminary information indicates that a GMC Suburban was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, ran off the left side of the road, struck the concrete barrier, and overturned.
The GMC then entered the northbound lanes and struck a Cadillac XT-4, a Toyota Camry, a Nissan Altima, and a Volkswagen Passat.
The driver of the GMC (Sandra Vanderslice, 57, Philadelphia, PA) and a rear seat passenger of the Toyota (Maxim Viscio, 29, Jersey City, N.J.) were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota sustained serious injuries, and the driver and two passengers of the Volkswagen sustained moderate injuries.
The driver of the Cadillac and the driver of the Nissan were not injured in the crash.
The northbound lanes of the Parkway were closed for approximately 4 hours. Cause of the crash remains under investigation.
