Rep. Van Drew Slams Murphy For Blanket Coronavirus Restrictions

Newly-reelected Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew (NJ-3) slammed Governor Murphy today in an interview with Fox News for departing from his strategy to utilize a “surgical” approach to combat coronavirus in New Jersey. Governor Murphy recently announced new statewide restrictions on restaurant times. youth sports, and outdoor gathering limits.

“Our New Jerseyans and Americans are trying their very best and when elected officials call them knuckleheads or demean, or diminish them in some way, I find that really disturbing,” Van Drew said. “This has been a really difficult time for people when they don’t see their family as much and where children and adults are both going through extreme psychological and even psychiatric and medical problems because of the lockdowns.”

Echoing an oft-repeated refrain from President Trump, Van Drew said, “The cure, as you’ve heard over and over again, cannot be worse than the disease.”

Van Drew also hit the governor for commenting that a complete lockdown of the state is still an option. “He shouldn’t even say that to frighten people,” Van Drew opined.

New Jersey and the United States as a whole has been experiencing a tremendous spike in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, with health officials concerned that new infections resulting from gatherings on the recent Thanksgiving holiday will push positive case numbers even higher and ultimately overwhelm hospitals and health care systems.

  1. Okay, this is getting ridiculous already! Now they want to implement “blanket restrictions”, so now my blanket is being targeted?!!! What am I supposed to cover myself with at night when I go to sleep, if not my blanket?! A plastic bag?!!! Arrest me, if you wish, but leave my blanket alone!
