[COMMUNICATED] Jewish readers from all over the world who viewed the footage of “rising star” Suri Diamond all agree on one thing: You can’t help but fall in love with the one and a half year old. (Watch it here)
In the video, a sweet little girl with dark brown eyes is bravely fighting between life and death as her mother Miriam explains the story: Suri was born with a rare genetic disease which does not allow her body to break down proteins. The adorable little girl then suffered from two strokes which caused damage to her nervous system. The poor thing must go to the hospital every day for treatments and specialized doctors. But after her more recent stroke, little Suri’s life is hanging in the balance.
Miriam had to leave her job to take over as Suri’s full-time caretaker. None of her treatments are covered by national health insurance and they are rallying to raise the money needed to receive a year’s worth of medication and Suri’s only chance of survival.
“The doctors say that if we can get her a year of treatments, which costs $300,000, she could be a happy, healthy child.” says Miriam on Suri’s crowdfunding page. “Without them, there is no future for her, chas v’shalom. This treatment means everything – the fatality rate for this disease is low for families who can afford the treatment…Hashem gave us the tremendous gift of Suri and I will fight with everything I have to try to get her the help she needs.”
