Twitter and Facebook lose a combined $51 billion in market value since banning President Trump; Other tech companies growing fast

Twitter and Facebook have lost approximately $51 billion in market value since banning President Trump from their platforms.

The companies stated they banned the President due to risk of violence, but the move appears to have backfired in a big way.

Aside from losing in value, the companies have lost a significant amount of users.

President Trump had tens of millions of followers on the platforms.

In the meantime, Parler announced it’s still searching for a new host after being dumped by Amazon. Soon after the President’s ban, the company says it saw the app explode with new users. But big tech doesn’t like competition, and immediately announced it was banning Parler from its app stores.

The company is searching for a new platform to host its servers, however, the company may never come back online, as big tech and other hosts attempt to keep them out of the game. They had about 12 million active users before going dark.

In other news, Telegram, another company seeing a massive surge in users, announced it has surpassed 500 million users,

Trump also indicated there were big things coming, including the possibility of him launching his own platform to take on big tech.

Great. Hopefully it’ll continue until it hits rock bottom. In fact it’ll be great if all social media went down the tubes. Not sure how much betterment these social sites have created in the world. We all would be better off without any of them to be honest.

  • problem with telegram is says:

it is a russian company and Shabbos starts over there 8 hrs before new york so you really need a heter to use it late on friday in the united states if you are interacting with a server that is located where it is already Shabbos not only because of electricity usage but because you are remotely toggling switches and building circuits in a place that is assur b’melacha

    • Internet is International says:

If that concerns you, I would seek a Psak Halacha from a qualified Rav in this area as the entire Internet uses Domain Name Services that connect to each other on an as needed basis via hubs located internationally. My servers happen to be in NYC with VPN connections and DNS servers randomly switched through out the world for security purposes, but one is in Israel and no Rav ever told me to shut down any of my sites with regards to Shabbos or any other Holiday including Yom Kippur. So… where are you getting this decision from so all of us that use the net and apps for our business sites and communications can act appropriately according to Halacha. It is your duty to take responsibility for your public statement and back it up.

Great news, both sites allow anti Israel terrorist supporters to flourish.

    • Twitter says:

And Twitter allows Iran and Holocaust deniers in the realm of ‘free speech’ but Trump is banned

  • Boruch hashem says:

Let’s thank the one above and hopefully they should stay the losers they are. No one really needs them anymore. They are just a waste of time.

  • Popular Vote says:

Vote with your wallet. Just goes to show how mis-guided these creatures are and what the people really think about what is going on in this country. I’d love to see Dorksey living in a decrepit old VW camper with flowers painted on it, if he can afford to register it.

  • write a comment says:

I will be very happy if both Twitter and FaceBook close down completely, because they contribute to extremism and polarization on both sides, although the violence seems to be worse on the right.

But this loss is certainly temporary, and the executives are cashing in on their stock options.

  • Uncommon sense says:

First he ruins the economy by costing social media their marketing.

Then he makes hundreds of news people and talk show hosts lose their jobs because they’ll have nothing to report when he leaves.

No wonder the democrats are working so hard to impeach him again.
