CHEMED: Important announcement for pregnant women

As per the CDC: Based on what we know at this time, pregnant women are at increased risk for severe illness from Covid-19.

Additionally, pregnant women with Covid-19 may be at risk for other adverse outcomes such as preterm delivery.

As such, CHEMED has a limited number of vaccines reserved for pregnant women that are being administered tomorrow, Friday, February 12th, from 9:00am – 12:00pm at the CHEMED tent in their parking lot at 1771 Madison Ave.

Pregnant women can walk in at this time, no appointment necessary.

  1. we will only be better off if people take the vaccine and stop posting all this nonsense about it. ENOUGH with the conspiracy theories. people are dying from covid. we have a vaccine to prevent it. end of story.

  2. @Dina – How do you know that the concerns that people are raising about the vaccine are not true? Are you following the same media and doctors and CDC who lied about HCQ’s effectiveness and who’s covid policies have caused the death of thousands of people? If you want covid to end, you need to daven. Sadly i do not believe we have reached the end with this vaccine based on the many, many hours of research I have done.

  3. There are many treatments that are SAFE, available, cheap and that work. Ivermectin, Zelanko protocol etc.etc.

This vaccine is NOT sufficiently tested. DON’T be a human guinea pig!!

  4. As frum yidden, we follow what our rabbonim tell us to do.
Hagoan R’ Chaim Kanievsky has said that everyone including pregnant women should indeed take the vaccine. It’s time to have emunas chachomim.
If you won’t listen to your doctor, the at least listen to the gadol hador.

    • Is it possible that Rav Chaim Kanievsky SHLITA was asked for the ladies in Eretz Yisroel? It may be a different question and answer…depends on how the question was asked….

    • We absolutely need to listen Daas Torah. I saw the video with R’ Chaim Shlitas psak and nowhere did he say that the psak is for Chutz Laaraetz. There is a much higher mortality rate among pregnant women in E”Y versus here. This is likely due to different strains identified in E”Y which haven’t been as prevalent stateside.
So I agree that we need Daas Torah. Why Can’t we have our local Rabanim speak up? The thing that bothers tremendously the past year in a half was the lack of hadracha from local Rabanim. I’m yearning from the bottom of my heart to listen to Daas Torah, but I’m not hearing it unfortunately.
My wife is expecting and we sought Daas Torah locally and all I was basically getting was “do what you want”, so we ended up doing nothing. Since then, my wife had the virus and after a very rough and frightening week and a half, B”H she was/is doing much better. So the point is moot for her in regards to getting the vaccine, but others need to know.
We need to here from our Rabanim!

  5. “There is currently insufficient data to make conclusions about the safety of the vaccine in subpopulations such as children less than 16 years of age, pregnant and lactating women, and immunocompromised individuals.”

Pfizer will be conducting post-authorization “observational study(ies)” to evaluate the association between the “vaccine and a pre-specified list of adverse events of special interest, along with deaths and hospitalizations, and severe Covid-19.” The study population will include “pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals…..”

These statements above are taken directly from a Pfizer documents.

There is insufficient data to determine if the Moderna vaccine is safe for pregnant and lactating individuals, those under 18 years of age, and immunocompromised individuals. (From a Moderna document)

    =======
So, if you would like to be part of the “observational studies,” go and take the vaccine.

  6. SF, it’s pretty scary that we don’t know the long term effects of this vaccine. It’s even scarier that we DO know the long term effects of getting Covid, for example, the many babies who had to be delivered early by emergency c section because the mother could no longer provide enough oxygen in her blood for 2 people. It’s a scary decision, and most pregnant women that I know are quite stressed by the conflicting medical opinions.

    • While this did happen to a handful of people, the overwhelming majority (99.99%)of pregnant women who had covid did just fine. Let’s not get carried away with sensational stories. (Sadly, these stories could have been prevented with proper early care.)

This article should be a PAID advertisement by Chemed. They are getting paid for every shot they give & get grants to promote it.They also receive grants according to how many they give out. So I wouldn’t join the hysteria based on anything they say.

If it would be a serious concern, we’d be hearing from our non profit community ie:Hatzolah, Bikur Cholim, Covid Task force etc.

      • It’s very dangerous and could be harmful to others posting misleading information. The 99.99% you write of “maybe” was true a while back, but that has changed a lot recently. I’ve heard as much from many people who work in the health field and none of them profit from any shots being given out. The change maybe be to new strains being introduced but I really am not qualified to say.

  7. Although the long term effects of the vaccine on the fetus is not well known, the immediate effects on mortality and morbidity of Covid on young pregnant women and their fetuses is well known!!!( some mothers have died, others are on ventilators, others have still births,). The vaccine option is much safer to save lives. Zelanko is alone in his opinion. You should be more concerned about following his protocol and alternative medicine recommendations than a Vaccine which may save both the Mother’and baby’s lives.

    Good shabbos
May Hashem protect and watch over us.

  8. People who are not medical experts should not be spreading their own ideas to the public. People who spread false information about vaccines and other life and death decisions will have to take achrayis for the people who listen to their poor advice.
Why do people think they know better than medical experts and gedolim?

  9. Is it possible that Rav Chaim Kanievsky SHLITA was asked for the ladies in Eretz Yisroel? It may be a different question and answer…depends on how the question was asked….

  10. YOu can NOT take a psak from R’ Chaim Kanievsky or any other gadol from a video about Pikuach nefesh matter. If you asked him yourself about your situation with all the relevant information, then follow the psak. I have seen videos that have R’ Chaim say you should take the vaccine AND videos where he actually said NO!
