FDA on Verge of Approving Third Coronavirus Vaccine

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took a major step towards approving Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot Covid-19 vaccine Wednesday, releasing a report stating that it had met its requirements for emergency use authorization.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was shown to be 66.9% effective against moderate to severe infections at least 14 days after receiving the injection, and 66.1% effective after 28 days, according to the FDA report. That would make Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine effective enough to help curb the spread of coronavirus but it would still be less effective than both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines which have been shown to be 75% effective after the first dose and 95% after two doses.

The report also notes that there were “no specific safety concerns identified in subgroup analyses by age, race, ethnicity, medical comorbidities, or prios SARS-CoV-2 infection.”

Final emergency approval could be granted as soon as Friday, when an independent group of FDA advisors meet to review the data.

Johnson & Johnson has said that it could have 20 million doses of their vaccine ready to be distributed in the US by the end of March, providing a much-needed boost to the country’s lagging supply of vaccines.

  • caution says:

EUA does not actually mean approved but it means that they consider it safe enough to use for emergencies like now where covid is overpowering. See fine print

  • options says:

If you want to prevent yourself from getting covid, ANY VARIANT, you could take Dr. Zelenko’s prophylaxis protocol on his website. While there’s not guarantee for anything, ttt uses either HCQ or ivermectin and it works extremely well and is safe. These vaccines are new and there are no long term studies about it’s affects on the body. Over 12,000 adverse events – many severe were already reported to the vaers (from the cdc website). In addition, pfizer and moderna vaccine don’t prevent you from getting the virus (as per their info). Just possibly prevent a more severe case.

  • options says says:

Correction: actually their website does say it MAY prevent getting covid but it may not work for everyone. At this point they are still continuing trials.
