The Lakewood Police Department this evening announced, that after an almost two-week-long investigation, an arrest has been made in connection with the March 31st attempted luring of a 16-year-old girl.
On March 31st, an unidentified man attempted to lure a 16-year-old girl into his vehicle for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts while in the Highpoint Condominium Complex.
The victim, who was not only smart enough to refuse his advances, thought quickly enough to surreptitiously record the suspect on her phone as he became more and more insistent that she give into his demands.
At the time the incident was reported his identity was unknown, however, with the help of a concerned citizen, he was identified as 40-year-old Julio Anchia of Lakewood.
Det. Patrick Kearns immediately acted on the new information and attempt to locate Anchia at his home, but he had already fled the area.
After several additional leads regarding his whereabouts were exhausted, criminal charges were approved by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and notification was made statewide in hope that another law enforcement agency may have some information or apprehend him.
Earlier this afternoon, Anchia turned himself in. He was arrested and served with his charges of 2nd Degree Attempted Luring, 2nd Attempted Sexual Assault and 3rd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Jail.
TLS would also like to thank the many concerned citizens who sent in the video.
Some of the descriptions used in this all important news story is a little surprising to me – and perhaps to others…given that TLS is usually mindful of the fact that many young children visit this site…At best I would have left out some of the details of this story..
Young children should never be allowed to visit this news website or any news website for that matter.
Thank you scoop for saying it the way it was and not hiding facts. First of all kids should not be reading the news. Secondly, parents need to absolutely be aware of the lurking dangers in and around lakewood.
I Agree Lashon Naki is of utmost importance!
if you think you can hide sexuality from your child your living in dreamland. Eitherway children shouldn’t be roaming the internet. You may want to educate your child in a healthy way before he gets it from the street in an unhealthy way. But ofcourse everyone should get daas torah on it.
Yes it’s a little more graphic than usual… and that was probbaly a mistake. But if you don’t talk to your kids about this stuff in a way that is appropriate for their age, you are sitting with your head in the sand.
You don’t need to give kids an in depth discussion of the biology to tell them that what this man was doing was wrong nad that if anyone ever tried to do that to them they should run away and make sure to tell someone. etc… etc..
Not that we take all our cues from what others do, but this kid in the story was obviously taught what to do and how to react when a predator approached.
Get real. It’s a fact of life. If I child doesn’t know what it means, the brief description in this long winded article wouldn’t peak their interest. If they are picking up on that in this news article they have already have info from the street. I remember when I was a child in the 80’s when ppl listened to traffic reports on the radio and once in a while such a story would be reported my father would quickly turn down the radio and I would laugh to myself about how naive my father is thinking this is how he’s going to keep me “sheltered”. It’s important to Sorah things how they are so ppl know what happened and what to be careful for in a dangerous society.
The language was a bit…strong, but a picture of this filth would be helpful.
Your child does not have to be clueless for you to not want them reading this article! No need to review this info on the Lakewood scoop!
