ICYMI: Unclaimed Property funds could be waiting for you; Many successful claims from Lakewood

[Reposted as a public service] Note: Many Lakewood residents have already claimed money owed to them.

Hi, my name is Yehoshua Eidlitz, I am a resident of Lakewood, New Jersey.

Like many of you, due to the coronavirus outbreak, I am currently unemployed, being that my business is not deemed essential. It pains me, as I am sure it pains many others, to see so many families in the same boat as I am and suffering every day! I wish I could physically help others, but contact is of course forbidden, and for good reason. And, like you, I ache to be able to lend or even distribute funds to those in need. We all desire to chip in toward feeding their families and to help everyone get by in these trying times. However, most of us can’t even do that for our ourselves, employees, family and friends let alone others.

It was with this thought in mind that I, along with my family resolved to sit down compile a list of all unclaimed property for Lakewood residents. This list can be found on the website we created, the link can be found below,

What is unclaimed property? For the most part it is not literally property. It is money which somehow never made its way to the proper owner. This could be due to numerous issues such as if someone moved and did not leave a forwarding address, or perhaps the sender had the wrong address or misspelled the recipient’s name. Sometimes it is funds from a grandparent or other relative who is deceased and the money is just waiting for an heir to claim it. Whatever the reason, when these funds sit for an extended period of time with no activity and no one laying claim to them, the State then seizes and holds the funds until they are claimed by the legitimate owner/recipient.

All States have their own searchable site in which an individual or business may search to see if their name is listed. Unfortunately, most people never realize that this list is there. It is estimated that 1 in every 10 people have unclaimed funds totaling around 100 BILLION!!

Our website lists all names from A to Z of any Lakewood residents and businesses who have money waiting to be collected. It is my hope that all Lakewood residents and groups (houses of worship, senior citizen communities, businesses, organizations, as well as neighbors friends and family) will see this list and be able to take upon themselves to contact anyone on this list whom they know or can get word to.

This is a time when everyone should come together and unite with common goals, and work in whatever way we can to help friends and strangers alike. With just a few minutes of your time and attention you can make a difference! The one resource which most of us now have in abundance is time, let us use that. Please help in this effort to locate the owners of the funds listed below so that we may stimulate the local economy, as well as our commitment to peace and love between neighbors. It does not matter if we are helping families who are African American, White or Hispanic. All Races and religions are affected directly or indirectly by this historic tragedy, and now is the time to cement love and peace between neighbors and fellow Americans.

There is no guarantee as to the amount of money in each claim, but in all likelihood it is worth the amount of the stamp needed to send in your claim form. For anyone who is fortunate enough to have their name on the list, please visit the NJ unclaimed property website at:

https://www.unclaimedproperty.nj.gov/treasury/unclaimed-property/

You can search for a name or business on this site and then file a claim. If you have any questions, you may use the contact information below:

Department of the Treasury

Unclaimed Property Administration

PO Box 214

Trenton, NJ 08625-0214

Due to the sheer volume and workload, we will be releasing the list in a few segments. PLEASE forgive any omissions, it is a huge list and anyone left out is purely unintentional. Please note that the very reason many funds are unclaimed/lost is due to misspelling of names of people, streets etc., so please try to be thorough when looking through the list. Thank you all for your time and attention! May everyone and their loved ones be healthy well and blessed.

  4. We also know a few people who found money through this posting. Thanks Yehoshua! I did notice a friend who was listed with her first name as a last name, and that may be how the money got “lost.” I also saw a last name of Vaahov under “v” which is probably Yaakov, Let your friends know if you see their name.
