JUST IN: Oak Street School placed on lockdown after student threatens other student with box cutter

The Oak Street School was placed on lockdown this morning after a student allegedly threatened another student with a box cutter, sources told TLS.

The incident happened approximately 10:25 AM, when a fifth-grade girl allegedly threatened another fifth-grade girl with a box cutter.

Police responded to the scene and located the weapon. The student was taken into custody, and the lockdown was lifted a short time later.

Lakewood School District attorney Michael Inzelbuch tells TLS the metal detectors were working, but the knife may have been aluminum and undetectable. Security guards were working as well.

Lakewood police and school security officials are investigating the incident.

  1. Mike I has no idea what’s going on. When he says that the metal detectors work. Sure they do. But at oak street school most of the students don’t even go through the metal detectors this year.
