Lakewood’s vaccination effort has been a shining example of efficiency and equity since it first began, with tens of thousands of vaccine doses having already been administered, and a massive ramp-up in vaccinations expected in the coming days.
Since CHEMED first began administering the vaccine, they have been averaging over 1,500 doses a day, for a total of over 52,000 doses administered. Perhaps more impressive is the streamlined process they have implemented to get people vaccinated in a timely fashion, with the entire process taking just a few minutes.
This writer has received both doses of the Moderna vaccine at CHEMED’s sites, with barely 20 minutes elapsing from the time I walked into the site until the time I walked out. If not for the required 15-minute waiting period following the vaccination, I could have been in and out in under 10 minutes.
With all adults over the age of 16 now eligible to receive the vaccine, the Lakewood Board of Education, in collaboration with CHEMED, is now mounting a campaign to get as many people vaccinated as possible, in order to allow the fastest return to pre-pandemic life as possible.
The vaccines will be administered through Thursday this week to students from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at CHEMED’s Woodlake Country Club site, 25 New Hampshire Avenue.
