Gov Murphy Ignoring CDC, Keeping Mask Mandate | Aaron Neuman

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is keeping the mask mandate for vaccinated individuals in the state in place, despite the CDC having announced Thursday that fully-vaccinated individuals don’t need them.

The CDC said the data clearly showed that fully-vaccinsted people posed no infection risk to others even in indoor spaces and in close contact. But the CDC only makes recommendations based on the science, while Governor Murphy has the power to set official state policy. Despite well over a year of promises to “follow the science,” Murphy is openly contradicting the CDC’s recommendations, in direct opposition to the actual science.

For now, a Murphy spokesman said that the governor is “reviewing” the new guidance and will make a decision on it at some point.

  1. The CDC guidelines have nothing to with science either, there was never any reason for fully vaccinated people to wear masks anywhere and there was never any reason for anyone else to wear masks outside. It has never been about science or logic, it has always been about politics and power.

  2. The CDC made that rule to encourage people to get vaccinated; of which getting people vaccinated save more lives than masks ,however masks save lives as well. Governor Murphy is a Machmir, he doesn’t care about his approval ratings or getting re-elected , he cares more about other people’s lives and health; what’s the big deal to wear a thin little mask for 5 cents in public places.

  3. While the no masking for vaccinated makes sense, it is very difficult to enforce in practice. I completely understand the governor’s
hesitation. Not sure how this can work.

  4. Why no mention of those who’ve recovered from Covid? They are just as protected as vaccinated people. In both cases doctors can’t say for certain how long antibodies will last and in both cases people have been infected afterwards, albeit mildly and very few. So when will they have the courage to come and say that those who had Covid can unmask?? They won’t, because it’s all about politics and $$$, not science.

  5. Completely agree with you, Mutty. Good points- the Governor is more concerned with keeping the state healthy and well than anything else- pretty incredible if you think about it.

  6. Vaccinated people may not be able to transfer the virus but they shed the dangerous spike protein acquired via the mRNA which in many cases is worse than the virus according to recent research. Surely Murphy is a fool but Hashem guides Kings, and that includes foolish ones.

  7. Vaccinated no masks outside but still 6 feet apart..Inside masks. No one is ready to take off. The yankees all vaccinated now 7 have tested positive. If your vaccinated take off your mask outside but keep six feet apart. You do not know who is vaccinated…Even in a park, stay away.no one knows for sure if your safe.Stay away..I do not go near strangers at all.

  8. Tyrant!

All he is is a tyrant. For the good of the state we need to get rid of him election day and replace them with a conservative not a RINO.
