  1. He probably also means to say that while you are learning Torah, do not discuss the details of all what is happening now. The Rav means focus on your learning 100% percent, just like an employer in a business, he does not want the employees to sit around and discuss the news.
    I am sure that it will also help if we judge the other person favorably. When we judge favorably, there is simply zero Lashon Harah (negative speech) to be said. I am also talking to myself. We are all together in 1 big ship.
