As first aired on our WhatsApp Status, TLS has obtained exclusive footage showing this evening’s shooting in Lakewood.
In the video – NOW WITH AUDIO, a crowd can be seen gathering between Ashley Avenue and MLK Drive, when a man pulls a gun and begins shooting – apparently at a party out of frame. Approximately 10 shots were fired, with at least one of them striking a nearby building.
There were no reports of injuries.
The incident is under investigation.

Why are we ok with this? Why do we have to put up with MLK being an absolute crime jungle right in middle of this community? Why aren’t there now 24 police patrols there? This might be the first time I feel we should knock down the entire neighborhood and put up more duplexes. Enough is enough. Someone please buy it and put an end to this craziness. The Township or State will never take control of this very dangerous situation. They don’t seem to care enough.
What an absolutely horrible thing to say. There may be a crime problem in the area, but that calls for more policing; not knocking down an entire neighborhood and kicking people out. There are normal nice families that live there, curb your elitism.
What did you expect to happen at that location – an math contest, a poetry recital, or a chess tournament?
Are Rents cheaper in that housing complex?
It’s crazy that this is still happening in this town. 99% of the crime comes from residence in those buildings.
We need someone to buy these buildings and turn them into regular apartments for nice families.
Where are our local politicians?
Here’s a question….How many serious crimes in this city are NOT committed near MLK Drive???? Why aren’t there Police sitting there 24/7???? Make this insanity stop already. Get control of this and do what it takes.
Some posters advocate for razing that entire development, or for getting rid of its upright residents, who are committing the vast majority of violent crimes, in Lakewood.
For any lawmaker to make the slightest move in that direction would constitute a political suicide, and most probably a slew of lawsuits to follow him for years. Especially in today’s leftist climate, with BLM thugs hounding anyone whose words could possibly be twisted as bigoted against them, and especially in a Jewish-majority city.
The only realistic solution, at this time, is to patrol the area, arrest the known culprits, and to passively allow the rest to eliminate themselves through guns and drugs.
Maybe we can ask President Biden to send to the Township of Lakewood a special grant to help cover the costs of sending certain individuals that live in the MLK Dr. area to a drug rehabilitation program. Let us try to help them. They need help and let’s try to help them.
It’s a waste to have the police department headquartered on third street. They should be based on MLK and Center street. Enough is enough. We are fed up. At the very least the buildings there should be blanketed with prominently placed surveillance cameras at every angle to get the drug sales and guns out of there. It’s the only way to restore safety to our town.
years ago the vacant lot on the corner of Center Street & MLK was a police substation. I don’t know why they left.
I have an interesting trick that can possibly help us and protect us during these difficult times. I agree with the comments above, but I want to add one more thing.
Many years ago when King Achav went into battle, God protected the entire nation, because there was peace amongst the nation. People were getting along with each other. There was no evil speech, no bad-mouthing. Nowadays that we have cars, I am sure that it will be very helpful if we respect the other people on the road. If you are rushing to an appointment, maybe leave a little bit earlier.
People were judging the other person in a favorable manner.

How many of the jewish community were ever hurt by the neighbors on MLK.
In brooklyn the community is more plagued by violence from outside the community than in Lakewood.
Rather comments like those above provoke hatred against Us!

The truth is; most of the residents on MLK are very nice, law abiding people – jewish and non-jewish. I do business with many of them. I asked one of my associates who live there and he confirms that the shooter is from out of town and was high at the time.
Please do not berate or stereo-type all residents there.
Thats really unfair, while I would support the increase in patrols, you cant say that EVERYONE there is involved.
There IS a violence problem there, and even one is too many. But there are others there who just want to live a good, peaceful life.
Lets face it, this isn’t our town. And the law abiding citizens who live there should have, as your neighbors, your support and sympathy.
Dont conflate those who are criminals with those trying to get by.
At the very least, because what goes around comes around.
Midnight is correct. We need a heavy police presence and video surveillance blanketing the area not just to help us but to help the majority of the folks in those buildings who want to live peacefully without fear of drugs and violence encroaching on them.

The people who live on MLK have every right to have a place to live. Where should they go if some developer bought the property? Maybe that neighborhood should have been developed for low income families and not for unzere. I don’t feel threatened by these people. Most of the shootings are not random but are aimed at their own people.,(which I don’t condone either, but it doesn’t affect us)
