Letter to the Editor: “Wake up New Jersey” | Senator Robert Singer

Whenever you think it can’t get any worse, wake up, New Jersey residents. it certainly can.

This recent voting session on June 3 in Trenton proved once again that 20 years of Democratic control in both houses has created a sense of disdain for the voters of our state.

Two pieces of legislation that were beyond reason were passed, and every New Jersey resident should be upset about them.

The first would ensure the continuation of some of the Governor’s executive orders until January. There was never an account of why this baffling legislation was needed, and no rational explanation in support of it.

Secondly, in the bill was $6.2 billion of federal cares money. Yes, you heard that correctly, $6.2 billion that was not allocated in the state budget.

The Senate President admitted he thought it would have been in the budget, but strangely enough, we never heard justification from the Democrat chairman of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Think about what $6.2 billion could do for New Jersey.

It could fully fund our schools, fund aid for special needs children, help our hospitals and our healthcare providers, such as FQHC’s, as well as provide additional staffing for nursing homes, medical day care, and home health care agencies that desperately need help.

Let’s think about how the money could ease the transportation situation. Additional funding could boost transit systems throughout our state, as well as providing roads projects that have been pushed off for years.

In general, imagine what it would mean to help the homeless and poor in New Jersey, and take care of the uninsured and underinsured and others in desperate need of help.

We could do that with $6.2 billion.

Unfortunately, I am sure you are going to see this money spent on special projects designed to lock up votes for the Governor’s reelection effort, and not necessarily to help the state.

The second piece of legislation that is just as upsetting was a resolution honoring Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Let’s step back for a second. More than 2,000 of his emails have recently been made public, and it appears he may have known all along where the coronavirus started. We are seeing signs of cover ups yet despite all that we still passed a resolution honoring him for his great work.

This is just another way of saying “we are going to do what we want to do and the heck with common sense.”

The majority Democrats couldn’t even hold the bill until more was known about what Fauci knew and what he was telling the public.

During this entire voting session, there were residents outside chanting their belief of what the legislators should do in voting on certain bills. It is their right to do so!!

I will tell you that their final statement was the most telling. It simply said, for those who voted for the legislation, or Democrats in more conservative districts who voted against it for political cover but never spoke to oppose it or held a press conference to speak against it. They simply said, “Vote them out.”

Senator Robert Singer represents the 30th District (parts of Monmouth and Ocean counties).

  1. If only the people of Lakewood would actually go out to vote.

    Polls open at 6 a.m.
You can run out before work or after davening. You can go later until 8.

You can request a vote by mail ballot.

And yet time & time again, no one comes out.

We have only ourselves to thank for the liberal governor we have.

  2. In the November election, I am begging ever to vote for Republicans, not Democrats. The Democrats proved that they cheated on the election in 2020 and we can make thing different.

  3. I read some of the ‘damning’ emails. They are anything but. They are quite innocuous. Most of what the media claimed about them was not true.
But the media needs us to believe in stupid trumpian conspiracy theories, so that we keep reading and watching them
