  1. $15.00 an hour less taxes:
That’s what Amazon, Landscapers, most factories etc pay; Wal-Mart, Target, Apple Store and most Supermarkets pay even less than $15.
And those jobs are not easy, workers stand on their feet over 8 hours a day, they must show up on time etc.
Those shouldn’t be Called jobs; that’s slavery or a waste of time.
For those salaries one can’t even pay rent, or wear decent clothing, as long as the government gives them money for being out of work, I agree with them for not working.

  2. Inflation is driving prices of everything up and up. $15 is worth about $11 and still taking a dive. Evidence is starting to show that the jab is worse than the virus and the spike protein is contagious. The current government at all levels is out of their league and out of their mind intentionally or unintentionally. Be mad as h**l and don’t take it anymore or we’re toast.

    • iyes there is inflation. but if 15 dollars would only be worth 11 dollars you would be an a lot worse trouble. according to you inflation is around 30 percent!!!!!

  3. @mutty
Saying that “showing up on time” is a hard part of the job is a pretty dumb comment. (Standing for 8 hour shifts IS hard like you mentioned.)
We ALL have to show up on time for work regardless of income.

Minimum wage is not supposed to be a livable salary.

It’s a starting wage for new to the industry.

We can pay everyone more but then everything will go up in price & we’ll be back to square one.

Life is meant to toil & grow.

America doesn’t seem to think so.

Print money & all will be well.

      • Not a livable salary! For an over 50 person like me who has made 6 figures and can’t get a job because of H1-B visas and my age being visible on any internet search I take offense. You’re telling me to work for $15 and hour and be on my feet for 8 hours or more a day as an entry level employee. There are millions of others like me that are losing their homes and can’t survive even on max social security. When you are on our shoes, then you can talk. You are grossly uninformed and insensitive. The US dollar has been worthless since A) The Federal Reserve – 1913, Roosevelt’s New Deal and The 70’s petrodollar. Today most of the world is not using it as a viable currency. Just see it’s value compared to foreign currencies like the Euro or Sterling Pound. The dollar is on a steady downward trajectory. Have you tried to by wood lately? Buy a car, clothes, food, gas? Give me a break. Oh, I forgot I’m already broke. Good luck. It’s gonna catch up with you too. You’ll be pawning your gold and silver jewelry and chatchkas. If those make you happy, boo-hoo.

  4. The bosses want to take most of the money for themselves, and give small salaries to the workers. Let them pay more, I am sure they will find workers then.

  5. To mutty. And if 1 doesn’t like the pay for the job’s that are being offered, let them go and pursue training for a higher paying job. Makes sense? Hashem should have rachmanut on us all.

  6. In response to the above Cheapskate Employers:
    1. 95% of the $15 hr jobs are not entry level jobs, no one gets useful experience from them, they are dead end jobs.
    2. Most people whom take these jobs are either single parents, immigrants or people whom are trying to straighten out from a troubled life. It’s a disgrace to pay them such salaries.

  7. It’s not that no one wants to work anymore. It’s that no one wants to work AND then still struggle. It’s demoralizing and demotivating. Many times a person makes “too much” to get food stamps and Medicaid but not enough to live on.
Irregardless, we should not forget that unemployment is hovering around 7.7% and 2% of those people are simply not employable because of mental health issues or substance abuse issues. 5% unnemployment is low. If it continues to drop it will be even more difficult.

  8. Also working could be stressful when you need something to do not when you are thinking of using the phones or cell phones while working that it is important message we should learn from working and using the cell phone does not match up and being able to work it is important what the parents wants the the teachers should do Is not only what they want to do just saying what the job is and what kind a job you want it depends what you are looking for what kind a job but it is important thing we should know about using the cell phone is not important for a job you never know who is looking at you and making sure they are working and on the phone 247

  9. As a local employer, I must disagree with the above comments. It is impossible to find workers regardless of the salary rate. Unemployment has killed the economy.. I know many businesses besides for myself, that are offering way better salaries than 15/hr, but cannot find anyone to do the job. People have gotten accustomed to being paid for sitting home, and that’s that. Not something employers can compete with. Anyone looking to work, can easily find many options!

  10. Alot of these discussions and commentating lately has turned into a a forum for former Brooklinites recently implanted to Lakewood to sound off and burn time. The style of these comments hardly reflect the ideas and attitudes that typical Lakewoodites espouse. There seems to be a evolving new crowd here with new attitudes

  11. The moral of the story to low-wage earner’s is not to make enemies with each other because you might be shacking up together to cut down on expenses.
