  1. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence. It is impossible to make a left turn in this town because opposing traffic will continue straight even after the light changes despite the fact that they see a car waiting to make a left. A little mentchlichkeit in this town will go along way in bringing everyone’s insurance rates down.

  2. thats not fair – the light was yellow, both cars were entering the intersection. The law is confusing at that point, does the turner have the right of way since he is already in the intersection? or does the one driving straight get priority?

    • The anwser is simple. Yellow light means slow down and prepare to stop. Not speed up and race through the intersection which is what they both did.
Technically, a car already in the intersection may proceed through the yellow or the red if the jerks coming in the opposite direction didn’t do the right thing and continued through the yellow or red.

  3. To Anon:
Yes, it’s very confusing. And I always find that the best way to resolve confusing traffic situations is to keep driving into the intersection to see if the other person will hit me. If he does, then I will know that he was also confused!

  4. Wow! they both passed the red! The Driving in Lakewood is like a jungle, mostly because of outdated roads and infrastructure, and that’s part of why people make their own rules. I believe we need a left turning lane and red turning arrow at that intersection to make it lesser of a jungle

  5. Vans fault he didn’t have the right away..he should’ve waited until he got the arrow..people are always in a rush..pay attention.

  6. BOTH went through the red light. The turning one was at least within the intersection, while the one going straight was traveling through at high speed.

  7. Van went through red light did not use turn signal. Should not have been in intersection but at line at the light. Watch the video. Slow it down or pause it along the way. Thank God no-one was hurt. Driver of van is guilty of several violations. Will get many points, doubtful if insurance will pay or will continue even at higher rate. Driver’s license should be suspended. Van has no case, will have to pay out of pocket.

  8. there is a turning arrow at that corner and if the driver would have 45 seconds , he would be given a green arrow. 45 seconds for a new van !!! injuries not withstanding… sad story. both will have no recourse as both ran red , even though van was already in intersection. doesn’t belong there.

  9. Car going straight has the right of way regardless of color of the light.Intersection looks like Clover and Cedarbridge, which means the van driver would not have had any problem making a left since that intersection now has a left turn lane. Additionally the vehicle with the dashcam should just wait for the light to change rather than trying to get a jump on his right hand turn.

  10. To loops. If you have to wait to make a left turn because of oncoming traffic whether they’re runing a light or not, whether they’re speeding or not, YOU WAIT UNTIL IT’S SAFE & CLEAR TO EXECUTE YOUR LEFT HAND TURN. I think you also display a certain level of impatience that needs to be addressed. Not to worry, though. Hashem is driving your vehicle. Have a blessed Shabbos.
