NEW DETAILS: Passenger killed in accident identified as 16-year-old Lakewood teen

TLS has learned that the passenger killed in last night’s accident in Lakewood, was identified as a 16-year-old from Lakewood.

As first reported on TLS, at approximately 9:30 PM last night, an Infinity traveling West on Cedarbridge Avenue lost control, struck a tree, then a building, and overturned. As it overturned, The rear seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The front seat passenger was also a teen, from Toms River.

Bystanders assisted in pulling the driver out of the vehicle, and both the driver and front seat passenger were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. As of this morning, they were in stable condition.

Police tell TLS there was no evidence of driving impairment, though it appears speed was a contributing factor.

The accident is still under investigation.

UPDATE: The victim was a student in the Lakewood School District. The District will be providing crisis and grief counseling to all students and families.
