NWS: Two Tornados Struck Ocean County Thursday

The National Weather Service says it has confirmed that a pair of tornados touched down in Ocean County during Thursday evening’s violent storm.

The twisters touched down in the Waretown and Cedar Bridge area in Barnegat Township, approximately 30 minutes south of Lakewood.

The Mount Holly office of the National Weather Service says both tornados classified as EF-1 twisters, the second-lowest level, with maximum sustained winds of 100-105 MPH.

Surveyors are continuing to assess damage in the area where the tornados hit, in addition to other areas where damage occurred to assess whether other tornados touched down.
