Adding a romantic touch to your décor can help you in relationships

It does like a cliché from a romcom, but couples who have enjoyed a successful date often get round to posing the question, ‘your place, or mine?’ But one thing guaranteed to ruin any romantic mood is inviting someone back to a house in need of a good tidy! Transforming your home into a haven where your significant other will look forward to being entertained isn’t difficult. So no excuses. Take on board our tips about boosting your relationship with romantic decoration.

Why it is so important to add romance to your home decoration?

People so often make snap judgments, so if they happen to enter a home where there is clutter everywhere, not to mention dishes piled high, they will assume the owner will have a similarly offhanded approach to their relationships. This is why adding a romantic touch to your décor will give the impression you can be trusted to treat other areas of your life with due care – and passion. Whether you’ve been in the habit of seeking prospective partners in offline outlets like singles bars and nightclubs, or via online dating services, knowing you have a pad to admire will give you the confidence to develop real sparks of chemistry.

Ways to make your house more romantic

– Build a coffee table on your own

This isn’t as difficult as it sounds, and it will provide a sense of achievement. There are many tutorials on YouTube, some built from rough wood obtained as separate blocks from a DIY store, others by upcycling – taking battered old furniture and restoring it with a splash of color, or fixing loose legs. A little, but important detail to make a house for a young couple comfortable and welcoming.

– Build a Fire Pit for Cold Weather Romance

Why should inclement weather spoil your time together? Snuggling in your back garden during the colder months, with refreshing mulled wine to hand, beneath the star-spangled majesty of the night skies, can be such a romantic experience. So how to build a fire pit to keep you cozy? Dig a circle out of your lawn, and line it with concrete blocks. Place a metal dish centermost, then add combustible material, such as woodcuts, or a natural mineral such as magnesium oxide. Now sit back and be mesmerized by the flames while you exchange racy campfire stories.

– Design Your Own Candles

Candles are easy to make. All you require are wax, fragrant oils, and a wick. Melt the wax into a mold, add the scented material, then the wick. The shape and color are entirely up to you, but once you’ve molded the candle and cut it to size, you can light it and relish the sight of its alluring flame. Knowing you made this and it wasn’t just purchased at the local mall will make its enticing flicker even more beguiling.

– Free-flowing curtains

Blinds are for offices. If you want to provide suitably romantic decoration to create the right ambiance for a date, ensure you drape elegant curtains by the window. Leave a tiny gap to allow a draft, not enough to give your other half goose bumps, but sufficient to ensure your drapes billow invitingly. Easily installable, you can choose from myriad designs, whether you prefer pleasant pastel shades, lurid crimson, or eye-catching patterns.

– Plants and flowers

Adding a touch of flora to your home will always have the desired effect of giving your interior a welcoming look. There are so many possible options. White orchids may seem unadventurous compared to so many dazzlingly shades, but they are striking, exuding elements of class and sophistication. Little cacti in fetching pots, strategically placed, will also draw attention, creating a vibe of hospitality and relaxation. Hanging plants will enliven the most basic interior design. As for flowers? You can choose singular stems resting in complimentary vases, or an explosion of colors from a bouquet. A solitary red rose positioned on a bedside cabinet is guaranteed to ignite passions when you retire to the bedroom after a romantic evening together.

– Soft pillows

Pillows. Lots of pillows. These come in all shapes, sizes, and designs, and bunched together on a couch or bed, will give the impression you’d love your guest to relax, and sink into them – preferably with you providing the most welcoming resting place of all!

– Twinkle lights

You don’t have to be camping below the stars to achieve the effect of gazing into the marvels of the Cosmos. LED string lights draped along surfaces, or pinned to walls, will provide a subtly amorous backdrop, giving you the excuse to switch off the main lights and huddle.

None of these suggestions should prove to be too difficult to organize, so with a little patience and creative flair, you could turn your home into a love nest. So, what are you waiting for?
