Today marks the one year anniversary of the Ocean Ride Toms River route.
12 months ago, the TRJCC with the assistance of County Commissioner Gary Quinn & OC Sheriff Mike Mastronardy, have established a new Toms River Ocean-Ride route, assisting those in need of getting to and from local shopping centers safely. With the help of Dave Fitzgerald (Director Ocean County Dept. of Transportation Services,) a pilot program with limited stops was rolled out.
“Toms River residents are extremely grateful,” says Booky Kalusznyer from the TRJCC. “Some residents in our community don’t drive or have a second vehicle. As a result, pedestrians were observed walking up and down Route 9 and Route 70, which can be extremely dangerous with the high speed of traffic on those roads.”
He added, “The pilot program was a big success and we are working with the county to expand the routes, adding additional stops to ensure that the well being and safety of the residents of Toms River are taken into account.”
Plaques today were presented to the officials for their help.
“We take this opportunity to thank Commissioner Quinn, Sheriff Mastronardy and Mr. Fitzgerald for always looking out for the residents of Toms River and the entire Ocean County,” Kalusznyer said.
