UPDATE: School Bus Driver Who Landed on Top of Overturned Vehicle in Wild Lakewood Accident Issued Summons

The bus driver involved in yesterday’s wild accident in Lakewood, has been issued summonses, police told TLS.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was issued tickets for Reckless Driving, and Improper Passing.

As first reported by TLS yesterday, the bus driver allegedly cut off another vehicle making a left turn, causing him to lose control of the bus, striking multiple vehicles.

Police say the school bus skidded approximately 90 feet in the ordeal. The bus finally came to a rest when it flipped a vehicle, landing on top of it. Five vehicles were involved in the accident, three of which were parked cars.

A total of 15 students were on board ranging from 14-17 years old, police said, none of whom were injured. They all escaped through the fire escape door, which police say was about a foot off the ground due to the angle of the bus.

TLS has also learned that the bus’s dashcam video was not operational at the time. Police say it was not working since May.

There is no word yet if the driver will be terminated.

  1. This is normal everyday activities for Lakewood, the Drivers break all state Federal and local laws (NEVER INFORCED) the drivers ride around with their yellow lights flashing so they can make turns in traffic so cars will move…………..with children several hundred feet away moving around like emergency vehicles

  2. I have seen these bus drivers driving like they don’t have children on the bus. Furthermore they do not have the children sitting down in their seats properly,. This could have been way worse than it was, thank God the children were not harmed.

  3. The bus driver may possibly be a veteran driver that usually drives safe and has a certain rt. And this route is usually clear at that time of the day. So nobosy should blame him so fast. Accidents happen to everyone. and it’s someone’s livelihood. so please everyone deserves another chance. Give the driver another chance if he has a good record.

  4. For those who appreciate seeing Hashem in events such as these should focus on a broader community message instead of on bus driving habits. You don’t believe that He allowed the Pittsburgh massacre to tell us to hire security guards in shul, and you shouldn’t believe He allowed this incident to tell us how to hire bus drivers.
