FIRST REPORT: Lakewood Cheder Purchases 30-acre Property in Jackson

The Lakewood Cheder has purchased a 30+ acre property in Jackson, TLS has learned.

With the Cheder continuing to grow by leaps and bounds, the school continues to add classes, with plans of larger expansions.

Bais Faiga, the girls school under the leadership of the Cheder, is also planning on opening a High School, sources said.

Both the Lakewood Cheder and Bais Faiga are the largest schools in Lakewood, both with thousands of children. After growing out of their old building on Madison Avenue approximately 10 years ago, the school moved to its current 90+ classroom building in the Industrial Park.

The new property in Jackson for Jackson children will be home to both girls and boys schools, instead of  having to bus them to Lakewood.

  • Inspired says:

    It’s incredible.
It’s the same people who keep stepping up time and time again to help Lakewood’s growing demand for schools.

    Good job!!

    • ploni says:

To Inspired. I know plenty of children who were not accepted by the Lakewood Cheder. What do you mean its the same people stepping up time and time again? Plenty of other schools are easier to get into.

      • almoni says:

If they would accept everyone there would be thousands of kids in each grade is that what you want??
        They are doing their best!

  • Where says:

So nice. Which area in Jackson?

  • Allowed? says:

The Boys and Girls schools will be on the same property?
Many years ago in Baltimore this idea was considered. Reb Moshe was asked and he said it’s Assur to do so even if they’ll be on opposite ends of the property.

    • ploni says:

Well the Satmar Rav himself would have done so, until someone suggested that others might hear that he had them in the same campus and therefore allow a different school to be co-ed. See the book, The Satmar Rebbe and his High School Principal by Rabbi Hertz Frankel for more details.

Yossi not sure you realize that almost all the young people are moving to Jackson or TR. For us in Jackson it is a huge shlep to have to bring our children to a different city every day for schooling. It is time Jackson should be treated as its own city, just like boropark abnd flatbush are 2 cities. It should everything of its own because that is where 100s and 1000s of fams are moving!

  • Anon says:

My friend called the cheder to ask about their new school that opened this year and the future plans for it. She was told they plan on moving to Jackson in a few years (they are currently in the cheders building on vasser). One reason being that the young families that send to the new school are mostly from Jackson! And they imagine it will continue that way.

  • Mutty says:

    They need it

  • Yochy says:

Can someone please explain me why there are so many negative comments?????

It’s a great thing what is happening, and end of story!!!

And maybe they will make four more wedding halls, and that will also be great.

  • Dov says:

will it be called the lakewood cheder school or will it be called the jackson cheder school?

  • Brooklyn observer says:

Perhaps adding dormitory options would alleviate some of the neverending traffic congestion.

  • Oh where says:

Jackson is tremendous. Where in Jackson is the property located?

  • 64bit says:

Can someone share the location ?

  • hirsch says:

    Where is this property?

  • Ck says:

It seems that some people don’t understand that the Lakewood Cheder is not moving from Vassar Ave. To Jackson. This is a 2nd branch of the Lakewood Cheder, to be located in Jackson.
    I hope that clarifies.

I know that some people not accepted were not of the same hashkafa of the Lakewood of yore.

  • ruby says:

eizehu chochom haroeh es hanolad , a brilliant move for many many reasons. all big chassidic rebbes have a team that thinks 10 years ahead and plans accordingly .. BH lakewood is doing the same
