Four new volunteers were sworn into the Lakewood Fire Department at a ceremony this evening, as the department expands its ability to provide comprehensive fire coverage to the growing Lakewood community.

The new volunteer firefighters are Yizchak Smith, Alexander Lopes, Yisroel Friedman, and Hugo Corro.

Two of the new sworn-in volunteers – Yisroel Friedman and Yitzchok Smith – are frum residents of the Lakewood community. Their swearing-in represents a growing trend among frum Lakewood residents who are joing the Lakewood Fire Department, placing their lives on the line to provide safety and assistance to others in their time of need.
