Wondering about those surveillance towers around Lakewood?

Many have been wondering what those surveillance towers (pictured) in Lakewood are all about.

As reported last year, and contrary to what some believe, the towers are not the LPD’s or the FBI’s – they belong to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and are part of routine surveillance.

Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said the mobile towers are placed in different towns around the County, and are used for security purposes.

The cameras are monitored from the Sheriff’s offices, and are used to identify and track suspicious and illegal activity.

  1. Thanks. I feel a lot better now that I know it is only the Sheriff’s office surveilling us.
Someone told me that the cameras were being operated by “Big Brother”, who, he claims, is watching everything. I told him that’s ridiculous because my brother is not that kind of guy, and he is also younger than me, but he refused to budge from his assertion. Truth be told, my brother is younger than me, but he is bigger than me in size. Who knows.
