Authorities are heightening security at two schools in Lakewood after receiving two threats to shoot up the school, TLS has learned.
Sources tell TLS two students allegedly emailed threats to commit shootings at the Middle School tomorrow morning.
“We take threats very seriously and we’ll be staffing both schools with a heavy police presence,” Chief Greg Meyer told TLS. “The Sheriff’s office OCPO, and Lakewood Police will be on location.“
An investigation is underway.
UPDATE: 10:55 PM: Officials tell TLS they have brought the situation under control and parents can feel safe sending their children to school tomorrow. Police will still be present at the schools.
All schools should have extra security, it may be a decoy attempt to gather the police in one or two spots. All schools should up their security.
