Letter: Advice Please

Dear Lakewood Scoop,

Thank you so much for providing such detailed weather reports. They are great to read and are so helpful.

Would you by any chance be able to please help us out with this question:

We live in Lakewood, NJ. My parents own a home in upstate NY. Much less snow is expected upstate.

We are concerned if power will go out during the weekend. If it is likely that power will go out in Lakewood then we will pack up the family and travel upstate now. It is not easy for us, but we do not want to be without power if the power goes out.

Would you by any chance be willing to advise if you think that the probability of power going out in Lakewood warrants packing up the family and travelling upstate? It is a 3 hour trip with zero stops.

We live in the Prospect Stree area.

If you can please offer any insight or advise, we would be very grateful.

  1. I asked a Navi and he told me that your power will be going at approximately 11:38pm till 6:42am so he did advise that you should go upstate for shabbos. Have a safe trip

    • I gave THAT Navi a ride yesterday! A real nice person. I gave him a ride to shul, and told him it would take about 5 minutes to get there. He said it would take “8 minutes and 37 and a half seconds.” He was exactly right! Wow!

  2. Driving north during a blizzard is highly unadvisable. Why put your family in jeopardy for driving in whiteout blizzard conditions? Plan ahead for power outages. There has been plenty of warning that this storm is on it’s way.
