PHOTOS: Over 200 Frum Jackson residents pack BOE meeting over busing concerns

Over 250 Frum parents packed the Board of Education meeting in Jackson Wednesday evening over busing concerns.

“Our attendance at this meeting is crucial to help all the moving pieces come together to create positive change!” organizers said.

“We are working towards forming an efficient busing system for the coming school year AND for the future. The upcoming board meetings will have an effect on EVERY Jackson resident who sends their children to Private schools in Lakewood.”

The group of parents are requesting:

1. Bus routes should be put out to bid by April 1st for the coming year, and parents must be notified by April 30th whether transportation or AIL will be given.
2. Jackson needs to appoint a liaison from our community to be a point of contact between the school district and our private schools in order to have proper communication.

“Anyone who currently has busing with the LSTA is not guaranteed busing for the coming year,” organizers said. “The LSTA is revamping their Lakewood bus routes for the coming school year. THEY WILL NOT be placing ANY Jackson students on their new routes until they have the official go ahead from Jackson. (This includes the areas who’ve always had busing until now.)

  1. I am here now and so impressed with the amount of frum ladies who showed up. There is also a respectable amount of children here who are sitting so well behaved.
Very impressed with the sense of unity the jackson frum residents displayed tonight!

  2. i was impressed as well. I’m just wondering if the BOE will understand that we all showed up to emphasize the bussing issue if only one person spoke up… not that I volunteered to speak…

  3. Wow!!! Kol Halovod to all the frum female speakers! You all spoke so eloquently! Was a huge success! Thank you everyone for coming out tonight to show your support!

  4. What I find commendable is the fact that there was no yelling or screaming from any of the frum speakers. This was thought out and organized and the organizers did a good job filling everyone in on what the meeting is about instead of causing a lot of confusion and chaos. I don’t know who is behind this but kol hakovod to them for doing this the smart way and not causing a Chilul
    Hashem

  5. Remember Jackson is not lakewood…..Years ago a parent wanted to know why the bus can not stop in front of her house…they go right by it. A very wise woman said “we go by Carvel also ” but we do not stop….Busing rules and laws will be followed in Jackson. Plus not all routes get picked up. Thats a fact. Public or private no matter…Laws about under two miles…..
